After the critical acclaim of its first season, ANDOR returns for its second and final season on Disney+ starting April 22, 2025. The series, which follows the journey of Cassian Andor five years before the events of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will bridge the remaining four years leading directly into the beloved film. With its gritty storytelling, complex characters, and political intrigue, ANDOR Season 2 promises to deliver the same high-quality narrative that made the first season stand out in the Star Wars universe.
The Returning Cast
Diego Luna - Cassian Andor

Diego Luna returns as the titular character Cassian Andor, the thief-turned-rebel spy whose journey toward becoming a revolutionary is the heart of the series. Luna, who also serves as an executive producer, brings depth and nuance to a character that viewers know will eventually sacrifice himself for the greater good in "Rogue One."
When we meet Cassian in Season 2, he's a changed man from where we left him in Season 1. Where we left Season 1 has nothing to do with where we start Season 2, Luna hints. He's working for Luthen's team and he's been quite successful. Hes been given a lot of responsibilities now, so it's far from that guy that was difficult to trust, difficult to read. Right nowhe's a man on a mission.
Despite this progress, Luna notes that Cassian still has a significant journey ahead: He still doesn't feel part of something bigger, you know? I think he still has a lot of doubts and he's still trying to figure things out. There's a long way to go for him to become the Cassian Andor we meet in Rogue One.
Stellan Skarsgård - Luthen Rael
Stellan Skarsgård reprises his role as the complex rebel operative Luthen Rael, who lives a dangerous double life. By day, he's a mild-mannered antiquities dealer on Coruscant, but his true identity is that of a fierce rebel strategist working to topple the Empire.
Luthen is quite an interesting character, Skarsgard says. There's a lot of contradictions in him, which attracts me because I really don't like the idea of good and evil people. I think it's an incredibly dangerous way to look at humans, so I'm grateful for the ambiguity of the character. He lives a kind of double life or maybe triple life, we don't know."
Skarsgård's Luthen embodies the moral complexity of the rebellion, noting, He says at one point, 'I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. And the tools of the enemy are pretty brutal. [Luthen is] a different kind of hero.
Kyle Soller - Syril Karn
Kyle Soller continues his portrayal of Syril Karn, the former Pre-Mor officer whose obsession with Cassian Andor and rigid adherence to order drives his character.

It felt like things were turned up to 11 in Season 1, Soller says. I don't know what number they're turned up to now, but it's a lot higher. And Syril's arc just the potential that is there for him in Season 1 is fully realized and then some. He has expanded into this version of himself that I think he's always wanted to be.
Soller notes the unique nature of both his character and Dedra Meero as antagonists in the Star Wars universe: "I thought from the very beginning that the way Tony crafted Syril and Dedra was unlike any other villains that you would normally see in a piece like this. They're incredibly human. They're incredibly flawed. They have these little ticks that just instantly make them more relatable. And they're both extremely conflicted, extremely demanding, extremely insane.
Adria Arjona - Bix Caleen
Adria Arjona returns as Bix Caleen, Cassian's close friend and ally who suffered brutal torture at the hands of the Empire in Season 1. Season 2 will explore her recovery and evolution as she deals with the trauma she experienced. The evolution of these characters is pretty intense, Arjona says. You see so much growth and so much destruction happen over the course of these couple years.
For Bix, much of her struggle is emotional and internal after the trauma she endured. A lot happened to her in Season 1Arjona explains. And she wants to be strong and she wants to be tough. It makes her rebellion internal and self-destructive.
Genevieve O'Reilly - Senator Mon Mothma

Genevieve O'Reilly continues her portrayal of Senator Mon Mothma, a role she's played for over 20 years across various Star Wars media. Season 2 will further explore the personal sacrifices Mothma makes to fund and support the burgeoning rebellion.
I felt sick with complication for Mon Mothma the woman and Mon Mothma the rebel, O'Reilly says of reading the next chapter of her journey in Season 2. The structure of the season is really interesting. I've never done anything like that before. Each three-episode arc is separated by a year, allowing for a rapid evolution of characters and events driving toward the Mon we know from Rogue One.
O'Reilly is particularly interested in exploring Mon's evolution as a leader. The Mon that I am deeply interested in is the emergence of a leader. There are times in the season where I was excited to see her emerge. And there are times in the season where I was surprised at the genuine weight of rebellion and the pain of that.
Denise Gough - Supervisor Dedra Meero
Denise Gough returns as the ambitious Imperial Security Bureau supervisor Dedra Meero, whose ruthless dedication to the Empire drives her to obsessively track down rebel activity.

All her complexities…playing that is so much fun, Gough says, allowing her to examine the morally gray character. On the surface, Dedra is villainous, yet believes herself to be firmly in the right. She's very sophisticated. She was never going to be just good or bad.
Gough adds that in Dedra's own mind, "she's a hero. Everyone in this story is the hero of their story, which I think is a sign of great writing." As we meet her in Season 2, a year after the events on Ferrix, her obsession with finding the rebel cell known as Axis remains undiminished. She's still obsessed with finding Axis. She will never stop looking for Axis. Ever.
Additional Cast Members
The second season also sees the return of several supporting characters who made an impact in Season 1:
Joplin Sibtain as Brasso: Cassian's loyal friend from Ferrix who helped lay Maarva to rest.
Muhannad Bhaier as Wilmon Paak: The teenager who became a fighter after his father was taken prisoner by the Empire.
Faye Marsay as Vel Sartha: Mon Mothma's cousin and a dedicated rebel operative.
Varada Sethu as Cinta Kaz: A skilled rebel fighter and Vel's partner.
Kathryn Hunter as Eedy Karn: Syril's domineering mother, who she playfully refers to as "Needy Eedy."
Duncan Pow as Ruescott Melshi: A fellow prisoner from Narkina 5 who will eventually join the Rebel Alliance alongside Cassian in "Rogue One."
Benjamin Bratt has also been cast in an undisclosed role for the second season, adding to the already impressive ensemble.
What to Expect in Season 2?
The second and final season of "Andor" will span four years, bringing viewers closer to the events of "Rogue One." The unique release structure of three episodes at a time, dropping weekly from April 22 to May 14, will allow audiences to experience each year of Cassian's journey in a condensed format.
The season will continue to explore the formation of the Rebel Alliance while delving deeper into the Empire's operations through characters like Dedra Meero and Director Krennic. We'll also see the introduction of K-2SO and learn how he and Cassian formed their partnership.
The fact is, the Rebellion in Star Wars has often gotten the short end of the narrative stick... Thankfully, Andor's first season (and now hopefully its second) exists to show us that somewhere in the Rebellion was a group of people who understood perfectly what they were fighting for, and would do anything in their power to rid the galaxy of fascism.
Conclusion
With its impressive cast, experienced creative team, and the promise of leading directly into "Rogue One, Andor" Season 2 is positioned to conclude what many critics considered the most mature and politically complex Star Wars story to date. The series premieres with its first three episodes on April 22, 2025, exclusively on Disney+, with subsequent episodes releasing in blocks of three each week until May 14.
As Diego Luna reflects on the journey: "It's quite exciting to think about the speech he has in Rogue One, because after watching Season 2, you'll understand what he means. When he talks about why he's there, what he has done, and why it's worth it to give it all for the cause."
